Essential Tools

  • Mixing Bowls
  • Food Processor
  • Rolling Pin
  • Pastry Cutter
  • Cookie Sheet & Parchment Paper
  • Silicone Spatula

Assembling and Baking the Fig Bars

  1. Roll out dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll chilled dough into a roughly 10" x 8" rectangle. For less dough around the filling, roll a little thinner.
  2. Cut and fill: Cut dough in half using a pastry cutter. Spread fig filling down the center of each rectangle.
  3. Fold and cut: Fold each side of the dough over the filling to enclose it. Cut into desired bar lengths.
  4. Prepare for baking: Place fig bars on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Bake: Bake in a preheated 350°F oven for 15-20 minutes, until lightly golden.
  6. Cool and serve: Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy with a cold glass of milk!

Tips for Success

  • Make sure your butter is softened but not melted for the best dough texture
  • Don't skip the chilling step - it makes the dough much easier to work with
  • If the fig filling is too thick, add a tablespoon of orange juice at a time until it reaches a spreadable consistency
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days
